Principal's profile

Dr. M. HELEN SANTHI, Principal, Indira Gandhi College of Engineering and Technology for Women, Chengalpattu, is formerly Professor and Head, Department of Civil Engineering, Sathyabama University, Chennai. She has more than two decades of wide experience in teaching at both U.G and P.G. levels. She is currently supervising five Ph.D. Scholars in Civil Engineering and is a Doctoral Committee Member for Ph.D Scholars in reputed Universities in Tamil Nadu. She has 9 publications in reputed journals and 26 presentations in conferences. She is a life member of Institution of Engineers and Indian Concrete Institute.

Principal's perspective

IGCET is committed to provide students with a strong, broad based fundamental engineering education and prepare the students for careers in industry, teaching and other research organizations. We are proud of strong team of meticulously trained, dedicated and committed faculty and most advanced teaching aids. As we strive for excellence in what we do, the Institute is constantly building activities to scale new heights by developing synergy between academic knowledge, technical skill set in line with industry needs, high moral values and sensitivity to the environment and the nation. Apart from academics, co-curricular activities, sports and cultural development will form an important part of the life at IGCET from the very beginning. I personally look forward to preparing my students to face the challenges the engineering and technology sector would offer.
